For the most part my skin has always been clear and I’ve never bothered with skin care products in the past, running water in the shower was about the extent of my regime. However I recently purchased a cleanser and toner in one and then I follow up with a moisturizer but my skin is worse than usual. What could be causing this?

Men Skin Care Products: Do Fears Hold You Back?

February 26th, 2009

Therese Higgins asked:

Are you avoiding men skin care products because you fear using them will make you unmanly? Do you feel that your skin needs some attention but you’re afraid to go shopping for skin creams because you think you will be laughed at? Without the help of quality skin care, natural skin for men means putting up with the aging effects of exposure to sun, wind and environmental pollution. So it comes down to which you fear most: looking old before your time, or using men skin care products?

Maybe I can help dispel these fears by sharing a conversation I recently had with my brother… one of the most macho guys I can think of. He has long been an advocate for the use of men skin care products. I wanted to know how he came to be so comfortable with using products that have normally been associated with women.

The first thing he said to me was he that couldn’t understand what the big deal was since, “skin is skin.” Taking responsibility for the care of your skin, in his opinion, is a very “masculine” thing to do. He said he believes that a man owes it to his wife or girlfriend to maintain good grooming habits. Its only natural skin care for men become part of those habits.

Being able to purchase and use men skin care products is also important for my brother because there was a time when they were a little hard to find. Back then he had to use the same ****** creams that his wife used. He told me that he was so happy when he could buy skin care products for men because it meant that he didn’t have to pull “little pink jars” from his bag in the locker room after working out at the gym.

My brother went on to explain that he believes that vanity isn’t a bad thing. In his opinion, men should take pride in their appearance, especially as they age. In addition to using anti wrinkle cream for men, my brother also recommends regularly trimming eyebrows, nose and ear hair to keep the signs of aging in check.

Over the years my brother says he’s seen an evolution in the quality of men skin care products. Instead of creams made of synthetic chemicals, today its possible to buy safe, natural, highly-effective products that have been developed with a “health” approach rather than a “cosmetic” approach. This type of natural skin for men means attacking problems at the cellular level, where it is possible to treat and repair skin damage.

The products that my brother prefers contain high concentration of nature-based, active ingredients. Made up of natural oils from avocado and macadamia nut, and fortified with vitamins, keratin, sea kelp and CoQ10 enzyme, these men skin care products are able to penetrate the skin cells to promote healing, increase natural collagen and elastin production and create a soft, smooth, healthy texture to the skin.

Make no mistake about it. It’s easy to be held back by your fears. But if you take your cue from my “manly” brother, using men skin care products is the best way to fight your fear of looking old. And if you’re still afraid to go out and shop for mens face cream, you can easily do your research and purchasing online, in the privacy of your home.

What Organic Skin Care Products Should be

February 25th, 2009

Margaret Bell asked:

What is the true definition of organic skin care?  We if many of the leading cosmetics companies are to be believed, it means that as long as you include a smidgen of honey you can pretty much throw in anything else that you want.  It’s those mystery ingredients in supposedly organic skin care products that you have to watch out for.

I refer to them as “mystery” ingredients not because the company is hiding anything really since the contents are posted right on the label.  It’s because you would have to be a med school professor to know off the top of your head what half of those ingredients are.  Most of these ingredients don’t pertain to organic skin care in any way.

That’s the problem with a great many organic skin care products being marketed today.  The active ingredients contained in these creams are only there in small quantities, and even the in low doses.  The rest of the ingredients are chemical preservatives and engineered fragrances.

Fragrances Could Be Carcinogenic

Methyl, ethyl, propyl, and butyl parabens are widely use in organic skin care creams as preservatives.  Studies have suggested that these chemicals may cause cancer.  They have also been found to interfere with the body’s endocrine system, as well as cause skin rashes and allergic reactions.

The fragrances added to most organic skin care products are made up of any number of chemical, many of which are known to be carcinogenic.  A lot of the non cancer-causing chemicals used are recognized toxins, which can do a variety of damage including affecting your central nervous system.

Why would these poisons even be allowed in organic skin care creams anyway?  The chemicals utilized to make up the fragrances absolutely should not be in any cosmetics products.  Developing an artificial aroma for a cream serves no purpose other than to make that cream seem more appealing to you.

A Company Who Does It Right - They Care

There is a company based in New Zealand that simply refuses to use parabens preservatives in their organic skin care products.  They don’t use fragrances either for that matter.  Their belief is that the health of their customers is more important saving a few pennies through the inclusion of cheap, unnecessary, chemical additives.

This company holds the philosophy that organic skin care should mean exactly that, organic.  They believe that when you open a tube of skin cream, the only thing that you should be able to smell is the pure, natural vegetable oils inside. I believe that they are absolutely right.

Real Organic Ingredients

Organic skin care products should include ingredients such as avocado oil, grape seed oil, passion fruit extract, and Japanese brown sea kelp.  That certainly sounds a lot better than what you’re finding in many of these other popular products.  It also sounds as if this product would be a lot better for you.

It is actually refreshing to know that there are still some companies left that care more about giving their customers a far superior product than they are about how large a profit they will turn.  When it comes to organic skin care do yourself a favor, and turn to the people of New Zealand.  I did and I can truthfully say their products work.

Are the Most Expensive Skin Care Products the Best Skin Care Products?

February 24th, 2009

Peter Clark asked:

When looking for the best skin care products, most people assume that the more expensive the skin care product is the better it must be.

Nothing could be further from the truth. The best skin care products are not necessarily the highest priced. Here’s why.

There are many factors that go into pricing a skin care range. One of the largest costs that have to be factored into the price of skincare products is marketing.

I’m sure that you’ve seen all those television ads for the big brand skin care ranges. The big name celebrity promoting those products that she probably doesn’t even use herself, she knows that there’s better skin care products around. But if she’s paid enough she’ll tell you they’re great.

Those big name celebrities are paid a lot. And it costs heaps to pay for those TV ads too. And all the glossy brochures and so on. The marketing budgets of those big name skincare brands are huge, and all those costs have to be paid for by sales of the product.

So if you’ve purchased one of the big brand skin care products lately you’ve probably paid quite a bit towards those television ads. But even though these products are extremely expensive, that doesn’t mean they’re the best products.

Here’s another reason why those skincare and anti aging products are so expensive. You probably buy them at your local department store or pharmacy. And of course the store has to make it’s markup on the product too. So they buy the product, add some, quite a bit actually, to the price so they make their money, and so the price goes right up.

Those are two of the biggest reasons why some of those big brand name skincare products that you see on the shelves. All those wrinkle creams, moisturizers and night creams are very, very expensive.

But are they the best? No. In fact it might surprise you to know that some of them do very little at all for your skin, and some even contain ingredients that are “known to cause cancer”.

Did you get that? Some of these big brand skincare products actually contain dangerous ingredients. It’s the same with cosmetics too. And the problem is so bad that there is even an organisation that is dedicated to trying to clean up cosmetics and skin care products.

So if price isn’t the way to find out which product is the best how do you find high quality skincare products that work well, and don’t contain dangerous ingredients? You buy products from companies committed to producing high quality, safe and effective skincare products that work well and don’t cost a bomb.

Did you hear right again? Are there high quality skincare products that you can buy that work well, don’t contain dangerous ingredients and are cheaper than the big brands? You bet there are.

So why didn’t you know about this before? Because these companies don’t spend up big on TV advertising, and don’t market their products through retail outlets. So two of the biggest costs of those big brand name skincare products aren’t there at all. But because they don’t advertise you’ve never heard of them.

How can you know that their products are superior, and cheaper? Well you can see their prices, they sell over the internet, and you can visit their site. But the other thing they do is let their skincare products do the talking.

They do that by offering a money back guarantee. If you aren’t happy with the products you can get your money back. Try that with the big brand name skincare products.

So anyone can try their skincare and anti aging products risk free, with a money back guarantee. And once someone tries their products they usually become a lifelong customer, and keep coming back.

That’s how the products are marketed. Not by TV advertising but by allowing customers to find out the quality of the products, and then buying them for life.

So are the most expensive skin care products the best skin care products? Absolutely not. In fact the best skin care products are some of the cheapest. Guaranteed.
